Respect Poster Guidelines
The poster can be any size and can be colored in with any type of media (crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint etc.). Think of a creative way to visually represent our respect rules in a positive way. This contest is to be done at home.
Our School Rules:

*Listen to learn on the classroom
*Try your best in the classroom

*Be kind
*Use inside voices in the classroom
*Keep hands and feet to yourself
*Help/share with others in the classroom

*Touch/use own things in the classroom
*Recycle in the classroom
*Contest will be broken up into K-2 and 3-5.
*Posters will be displayed for the remainder of the year in the hallways.
*Full name and class should be written on the back.

4th Grade Service Project
November 2008
Dear Parents and Students,
Fourth grade will be participating in an annual service project on December 12th. We are asking families to donate items for this project. Fourth grade is putting together baskets for veterans in transitional housing. We thought that this would be a great way to express ourselves this holiday season! You can choose to donate anything from the list or a couple of dollars. We will use the money to purchase additional items that you see on this list.
Cleaning Supplies
rags, oven cleaner, small buckets, mops, brooms, toilet bowl tablets, window cleaner, Windex, Clorox wipes, laundry detergent, tall kitchen trash bags, lawn waste bags etc.
Bathroom Supplies
toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, toothbrush holder, soap dish, bath soap, Dixie cups, tissue box cover, disposable razors, wash cloths, etc.
Kitchen Items
non-perishable food, (canned or in glass jars) serving spoons, spatulas, oven mits, measuring spoons, can openers, magnets, scrapers, paper plates, zip lock bags, envelopes, stamps, dish rags or towels, etc.
Linens
twin sheet sets, pillows, blankets, bath mats, throw rugs, etc.
Please send in any donated items or money by Thursday, December 8th. Thank you very much for your generous donation and your participation in our service project!

Students are asked to paint or color the attached drawing, and to be creative (e.g. decorate it with stickers, thread, rice, bean, etc.)

Party in a Box
Gombert's Service Club Presents...
“Party in a Box”
This fall Gombert's Service Club will once again sponsor “Party in a Box” through the Humanitarian Service Project. The purpose of this project is to provide the essential items necessary for underprivileged children to celebrate their birthday. This project will help create a memorable birthday for children of all ages. In order to accomplish this goal we need your help! There are two ways you can help:
1) You can donate party supplies for the boxes. We are in need of cake mix, frosting, party hats, balloons, candles, party favors, streamers, and gift wrapping paper. Simple “Happy Birthday” themes are preferred. We will be collecting supplies through November 24th. Look for the big Birthday Box in the LMC.
2) You can also help by volunteering your time after school. K, 1, and 2 will meeting on Monday, November 24th and 3, 4, and 5 will be meeting on Tuesday, November 25th. Students and parents are welcome to help with the various tasks including: sorting, assembling, and wrapping.

In writing, we were introduced to the world of reviewing books. In preparation for writing our own book reviews, fourth graders will locate and bring to school a copy of a review. We encourage students to find reviews of books they would like to read or have read. Book reviews can be found from a variety of sources…
· Many newspapers have weekend editions that contain “family” sections where children submitted book reviews.
· Many magazines contain book reviews.
